Description: Original WW2 British map of ITALY entitled "BOVES". The town was the scene of a war crime when twenty-three civilians were massacred and hundreds of houses burned as a reprisal for the death of a German soldier at the hands of the Italian resistance. Printed in August 1943 for the Allied Invasion of Italy that began the following month. Scale 1:100,000. In great condition. From a large collection recently sold off by Edinburgh University - hence ink stamping to margin.
