Description: This listing is for a Montgomery Wards Airline model GEN-6827A Stereo 8-Track Record tape deck. It has been tested and seems to be in generally good working order. It is listed FOR PARTS OR REPAIR as it was not fully tested and no attempt was made to record. A short video is included showing the basic operation. All lights and meters are working. This unit is intended to be attached to a receiver/amplifier via RCA cable (not included). Please review all pictures and the short video of the unit in operation before placing a bid. A word about 8-tracks: Many were manufactured with a foam strip (like foam window seal) behind the tape to ensure the tape is pressed up against the head when played. Some will still play well, while on others the foam has dried out over years of hot/cold exposure and will collapse or crumble and not press the tape against the head sufficiently to play. Other tapes were made differently – using a thin brass strip with a felt pad attached to each side. These will typically play without issue - unless the felt pad(s) is no longer in place. Repairs to cherished tapes may be possible – many u-tube videos demo the process. Failure of any individual 8-track cartridge to play is not an indication of a problem with the player.
