Fred Muggs" - the rubber face chimpanzee stuffed plush doll He is 16" tall and I think was made by Ideal Toys (but no maker's mark on doll) I think this is the rare original version from 1955 - with the yellow vest and red corduroy shorts - as this doll was made for several years in many different looks J. Fred Muggs was a real chimpanzee who became a nationwide sensation after he joined NBC TV's "Today Show" in 1953. His popularity spawned this ever popular doll as well as other products and endorsements. He's still in excellent condition with no damage, all original clothes, and very little wear His shoes have faint staining - clothes are slightly soiled - and one rubber finger has a tiny tear The stuffing is intact, but a little "loose" - his fur is all good, but a little matted Please look at pics and zoom in for details Feel free to ask me any questions As of 2018, the original chimpanzee was reported still alive, happily in retirement in Florida ! > > FREE SHIPPING Images sell!
