Description: This as a truly stunning IWC piece from the 1940s. It is in beautiful condition and excellent working order. It’s incredible to believe that it is 80 years old. I bought this while searching for a nice vintage IWC. There were lots of choices at the time, many of them very beautiful, but this one stood out just simply for its prettiness. The gold numerals really give the watch a cheerful personality which seemed to be slightly missing from the dials with bars or black painted numerals. Compared with the examples with numerals and bars this one seems to possess an extra character and charm. The happy disposition is carried through deep into the design where the 6 has been cut to show only a little arc of gold below the sub-second dial. This piece was clearly designed with love by a happy individual who loved his job. There is a tiny ding on the top left lug which I have been kindly informed, is a Portuguese customs stamp. The crown is unlikely to be original but neither of these steal from the pure, bright, happy charm of this piece. The dial is in extremely good condition but some very very slight corrosion to the gold hands I’ve spent a lot of time just gazing at this watch and have loved every minute of it.
