Vintage Italian Majolica Pottery Koi Gold or Fighting Fish Wall Sculpture Italy

Description: Gorgeous and with vivid colors as if just hand made... Superb Vintage Italian Pottery Gold Fish Koi Wall Sculpture Set of two...marked Italy on back and made from Terracotta clay, and have a wonderful majolica finish. both measure 9" L x 7" H and as the fish are anatomically dimensional if form come out from the wall at the deepest appx 1". Both are in excellent condition...no cracks, no chips and no color loss. Each has been hand-painted individually so each has its own variation of the same colors...rather like real fish in that sense. These are especially awesome as so realistic yet stylized in their design.I researched extensively but found no others at all that approached similar. Do not see a makers mark. One of a kind, perhaps but certainly no a set likely to surface in this great condition again. As to age, vintage for sure but exact age is unknown...one of the fish has an old Higbee sticker to the back....a large renowned department store here in Cleveland ( is the present day Dillard's) Higbee's was a department store founded in 1860 in Cleveland, Ohio.[1] In 1987, Higbee's was sold to the joint partnership of Dillard's department stores and Youngstown-based developer, Edward J.
