Description: Tele-Star 3/4 size parlor guitar with redburst finish. Made in Japan by Kawai. 23" scale, all-mahogany (probably ply). Floating bridge with bail-style tailpeice. Didn't need the full "Nelsonized" rebuild. This guy only needed a cleanup and minor touchups on finish issues. Nice tight neck joint. The nut and saddle were shot, so we replaced them, including a compensated bone saddle We did the full pro setup: filed the nut, lubricated the tuners, seriously shaved the bridge to lower the action and a new set of Elixir phosphor bronze coated strings. We didn't do any fretwork because it looks like this guitar was never played; that's why the brass frets are tarnished. The redburst lacquer finish is old-school thin, which shows the grain texture. A couple of dents on the neck below the nut. See the pics for condition. Some of the position markers on the fretboard fell off and we didn't replace them, I like the look. Also the fretboard is flat; no radius. Tele-Star Japanese-made guitars debuted in the U.S. in 1965. The Tele-Star Trading Corporation, (Broadway, New York) was begun by Maurice Laboz in around 1965 and concentrated on relatively humble low-end guitars (and drums), produced mainly by the Kawai company. In 1967 the Tele-Star company was probably purchased by the Music-Craft Electronic Corporation. In the early ’70s, the New York warehouse had a fire. From that point on, Tele-Star abandoned guitars and switched its focus to musical accessories.
