There are double ended screws to put the legs together. I was careful not to over tighten them. It works wonderfully and doesn’t seem anymore fragile than similar lamps. I have used it in several different places in my living room. It has worked well in all of them. I love the foot pedal to turn the whole thing on and that I can turn off the top light with the pull chain if I just want just some ambiance in the room. Gorgeous floor lamp!
