Description: Son of the Black Stallion (2nd Black Stallion book) by Walter Farley Illustrated by Milton Menasco Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Random House 1947. States "First Printing" on the copyright page. Price-clipped on the dust jacket flap. Appears quite rare in the first printing. The rarest of course being a first printing of the first book "The Black Stallion". At this writing I could only find one other first printing copy of "Son of the Stallion". For the first book in the first printing prices begin at $4000. Near Fine+ in Very Good Price-Clipped Dust Jacket although there is a title and price on the lower back flap. An exceptionally rare copy of the first printing, not often available. Former owner bookplate on the inside of the front board. The book itself is quite nice: boards clean, corners straight, some aging to the boards and a bit of toning to the text-block, and a hint of separation at the title page but still holding well. The dust jacket is fairly nice, but not perfect. Some fraying to the top and bottom and some discoloration here and there but still a fairly nice and presentable copy not often found in the first printing. Priced to sell. NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.ALSO: The pictures are of the actual item for sale. (The pictures are NOT stock photos.) USPS Shipping: $6.95 shipping and confirmation in the U.S. only via media mail (1-2 weeks), Padded flat-rate priority mailer $9.95, and $16.95 flat-rate medium box. International flat-rate mailer $47.50. (Canadian customer, the rate may be slightly cheaper, around $35.) I tend to ship on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays sometimes on Friday. I do not ship on Mondays and Saturdays. PLEASE contact me if you would like a reduction in shipping costs for multiple purchases sent to a single address. (not always possible with international shipping.) I can send you an invoice for one or more items shipped together. IMPORTANT NOTE: All sales are generally FINAL. I do NOT accept returns because of buyer's remorse, "it was a gift but the recipient already had it", or "I found the same book at a better price". I am not selling new items but collectible items priced based on current availability, generally going prices and demand. Returns are only accepted because of discrepancies regarding edition and/or condition of which I try to be very thorough in researching the edition/printing as well as describing ALL condition issues. So make sure you're 100% positive you desire one of my items before making a purchase. NOTE on FEEDBACK: If you have problem with an order for any reason, please contact me before leaving feedback! 99% of the time we can resolve the problem. It is much more difficult to change feedback once left.A Word on First Editions: 95% of my offerings are trade editions, and 90% of those are first printings. In general I do NOT sell bookclub editions or cheap reprints like Modern Library except in rare instances which would be explicitly stated as such. In general, I also DO NOT sell x-library copies. If the book is both a first edition AND a first printing, it will be marked as “first edition” in the Item Specifics under “Special Attributes”, otherwise assume a later printing or a later edition. NOTE on USPS Shipping: The US Post has graciously increased their rates! I ship on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays sometimes on Friday. I do not ship on Mondays and Saturdays.$6.00 Priority mail shipping and confirmation in the U.S. (2-5 days). Make sure your current address is on eBay and/or Paypal! All books are bubble-wrapped, and those costing over $50 will be placed in a box. My shipping costs are slightly more than others because I use dust jacket covers, bubble-wrap, and boxes. The extra $1 or so is worth it to protect your book!FYI, media mail is a discount shipping rate for books and CD's. It is not the same as first class mail, and you can't expect items to arrive in the same time frame. They typically take 1 1/2 to 3 weeks. Items shipped media mail take longer than a letter which is first class.PLEASE contact me if you would like a reduction in shipping costs for multiple purchases sent to a single address. (not always possible with international shipping.)ATTENTION Canadian and International customers: $46 international priority mail with required tracking. (I now require international tracking on all items over $50) There may be a delay, sometimes an additional 1 to 8 weeks, if your package is inspected by your country's custom's inspectors. I cannot be responsible (and I have no control over) delays due to customs inspections. It is best to find out your country's policies in this regard.Any further questions, please email me. I try my very best to accurately describe condition. Disputes in condition of items must be resolved within 15 days of shipment of item. Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter
