Josephine Clark (1921-1991) appeared in film as Reno Browne, or sometimes Reno Blair, taking her name from the city of Reno, Nevada, where she was born and where she died. She was featured in many B Westerns of the 1940s, leading lady to Johnny Mack Brown and others. She was especially noted for her equestrian skills, better than most of her co-stars. Bill Haley, later remembered as a rock music pioneer with his Comets, had a Western music group, the Saddlemen, who appeared in films as Reno Browne and Her Buckaroos. As such they had a minor hit record in 1951, "My Palomino and I." (Browne was featured on the label, though she herself didn't sing.) She also had a 13-episode radio program, Reno Rides the Range.
