Rear Upright Assembly For Stanley No. 50 or 60 Improved Mitre Box, 1877-1904

A nice original replacement rear upright assembly for Stanley's earliest cast iron mitre boxes -No. 50 and No. 60. This was the 1877 patent version that Stanley used until another improvement was made in 1904. It can technically be used on the front as well, but is designed to work on the rear as it has the plate that holds the 2 halves together which can be moved to accommodate a back saw or a panel saw (photos shown in position for panel saws). It is a solid replacement with no damage. The 2 washers at the top are replacements. For specifications, see the "About This Item > Item Specifics" section of this listing. For these reasons, I will also try to list a description of these grades in each listing in order to clarify the grade given to each item. No signs of wear or rust - probably never used. No problems or issues. EXCELLENT: 95-99% of original finish remaining. Very slight wear with no rust. No problems or issues. GOOD PLUS: 85-95% of original finish remaining. Used but well maintained. Scuffs, light wear, very little rust. GOOD: 65-85% of original finish remaining. Moderate wear and/or rust. Minor deficiencies - owner's initials, nicks, etc. GOOD MINUS: 50-65% of original finish remaining. Has seen hard use, but remains serviceable. Scratches, nicks, dents, cracks, chips, improper replacement parts. FAIR: 25-50% of original finish remaining. Heavy wear and rust. Some parts are broken, missing, or improper - serious flaws. POOR: 0-25% of original finish remaining. Pitted, abused, heavily worn. Serious damage and missing major parts.
