Description: ORVIS BATTENKILL 8/9 DISC MULTIPLYING FLY REEL, ENGLAND Very nice multiplying made for Orvis, probably by British Fly Reels (BFR) in England. The reel is 3 ¼” in diameter with a 1” spool width. Fitted with a disk drag adjusted from back pate. Marked for lines through 9wt. Set up for RH wind and I believe reversible. Line guide accepts RH or LH. Condition is excellent with hardly any evidence of use. Multiplying fly reels are prized for use with larger fish and for use from a drift boat where line in the boat is likely to tangle. This is exceptionally smooth and well-designed, with the foot slightly offset for balance.
