Description: Standing at almost 21 inches tall including her base and music box, this doll appears to me entirely undisplayed. She portrays a Kamuro; which her listing says is an attendant to 'Geisha girl,' which is a mistranslation; Kamuro are attendants to Oiran; high-classed courtesans. Both are highly desirable dolls because their costumes are just so entirely extra. This one is in fantastic condition; she has her box and even all the original bracing; her box is in fantastic condition which is really surprising. Like I said, I don't think she's ever been displayed; the freshness of her silks and hair really matches up with the doll kits I get from time to time and will be listing some of those and some other dolls today. No UV damage to her red kimono; which is awesome; nothing like stumbling onto a pretty face and her kimono has entirely faded out. There's a few slight crunches to her kanzashi; but that's definitely due to storage. She's missing one bell from the dangles on her sleeve. Other than that, she's fantastic. Her music box even works; I've not had one of these fall into my hands working. Please be careful winding it; these are really fragile and I can feel that it doesn't take hardly any force to overwind it; and probably why most of these dolls don't have working music boxes. This doll is from the mid 1950s. There is maybe some oxidization to her face; it's not bright white; almost a soft cream color, but I wonder if this is intentional; so she doesn't look so 'different' to the Western audience she was sold for; her tabi socks by contrast are extremely bright white. I wouldn't consider it a fault; she's in near immaculate condition for one of these silk-faced dolls. No odors; no cigarette smell. Absolutely beautiful doll. I have the shipping set to USPS Priority Shipping; if you're too far from me, it may show as a little high. I can ship via Fedex for a little cheaper at request for long distances.
