Description: Very nice World War II US officers Olive Drab service coat and khaki shirt that belonged to a pilot in the 8th Army Air Force. The coat itself is a private purchase coat that was manufactured by Worsted-Tex. As a private purchase uniform, there is no spec label indicating size or date of manufacture. There is the laundry number "L-3872", which is stamped in the armpit, below the collar, and inside the khaki shirt. There is also a paper tag pinned to the inside of the coat bearing the last name "Lefoldt". The coat is a very well made example, with lower ticket pockets, and overall superior craftsmanship. The shoulders are adorned with British-Made 1st Lieutenant bars, as well as a British-made "stubby wing" 8th Air Force shoulder sleeve insignia - which is hand-sewn to the sleeve. A nice set of 3" pin-back Sterling Aviator Wings are pinned to the left breast, and a Presidential Unit Citation on the right. Overall, a very nice named pilot's uniform from the Mighty Eigth! The coat remains in very good condition, showing signs of age, use, and wear. Please see the pictures for more detail. Guaranteed 100% authentic in every respect for life.
