Two original Press Photos of Margaret Thatcher who visited Battersea Power Station on 08 June 1988 to launch it as the biggest tourist attraction in Europe. Both photos are date stamped 08 June 1988 and 09 June 1988 to the rear.This came from the archives of Express Newspapers based in the UK. Whilst at Battersea Power Station, Thatcher "Armed with the biggest laser gun in Britain, she fired a beam which detonated two mid-air maroons and dropped a white curtain to reveal the building's new name, picked out in flame, while purple smoke plumes billowed from two of the 337 ft chimneys. The explosions caused four fire engines, a fire boat, an emergency rescue tender and several ambulances to race to the scene after 999 calls from alarmed local residents." The photos measure approx. 11.75" x 8".No tears. Though I have a large collection of Margaret Thatcher press photos, these are the only ones I have of her at Battersea.
