Description: Listing is for: 5 or more frags with a minimum of 5 species of marine Macro Algae Note: When purchasing multiple pack the minimum of five species rule applies to the order as a whole. I’ll try to include additional species when possible but it isn’t a guarantee. e.g. If two packs are ordered, but will receive 10+ frags with 5+ different species. If three packs are ordered buyer will receive 15+ frags with 5+ different species, and so on. **There’s been a lot of confusion regarding portion size so I’ve decided to standardize the portions by using the number frags vs using volume. So for those who bought a variety pack before 6/12/24, firstly you were very lucky with the portion size. Secondly and unfortunately please do not expect the same generosity with future orders. Sorry for any inconveniences caused. Frags of each species will vary and depend on the grow rate in an aquarium, and I'll always be sure to include at least a small amount of a unique/rarer macro. As a reference, if all things go well one variety pack should be able to establish a 5 gallon nano tank or a small refugium. When receiving macroalgae simply float the bag for about 10-20 minutes then attach the macros to their desired positions. I find ziptie-ing them to an inverted frag plug and then jamming/gluing them to the rockwork the is best way of attaching macros, because you can always cut and re-tie them without damaging them (unlike with superglue). Most macroalgae are pretty adaptable, so long as you have them under a full spectrum white light and keep up with your regular water changes they'll do just fine!...... But let's face it, if you're anything like me you keep macroalgae because you despise water changes. If you only do irregular or (god forbid) no water changes, then I advise (that apart from salinity, Ca, Mg, KH) you keep an eye on your Iron, Potassium, Iodine, and trace element levels. You should also try not to bottom out your Nitrate and Phosphate levels for too long either (don't starve your macros). Here's a run down of what I generally keep my parameters at :Salinity: 1.023-1.025SGTemperature: 68-80F**Lighting: 100-300μmol/s/m2 @ 6,000-10,000KNitrate: 10-20ppmPhosphate: 0.05-0.1ppmPotassium: 400-420ppmAlkalinity: 9-12 dKHMagnesium: 1350-1450ppmCalcium: 450-500ppmIron: 0.25-0.5ppmIodine: ~0.05ppm*** **Temperature shifts should be done gradually. For example during the winter my main tank reaches an average of 68F with 65F being the coldest point in the pump chamber. Then as the months go by and seasons progress it can reach around 80F during the summer. I wouldn't advise going over 84F as it will severely impact the growth of some species like codium and sargassum. ***Most of these trace elements can be covered by using Brigthwell's ChaetoGro and mixing in a little extra iron on the side. In reality, you don't have to strictly adhere to my parameters. Given enough time macro algae will adapt to their environment. DISCLAIMER Due to the small size of my operation, I can't guarantee live arrival. However please do take a photo of the unopened package and after that one more of the contents within 1-2 hours of delivery; then I can issue a refund if there is damage to the algae and the bags are broken. In any case I'll be sure to include a little bit extra with every order. Please keep in mind the current weather in your area before ordering. I ship algae with insulation, but it will still be defeated by a hot mailbox or frozen porch eventually if left unattended. As I stand in solidarity with Californian reefers, NO Caulerpa will be sent or used as filler with any order to any state for this pack.
