Description: I used to work in our Purchasing Department at Electro-Motive Division. I worked as a buyer, senior buyer, and eventually became a Commodity Manager. Little known fact but EMD Purchasing was actually part of General Motors Worldwide Purchasing. We had strict guidelines we had to follow relative to sourcing, be it existing or new suppliers. I felt fortunate to have been able to work under these guidelines and even had the opportunity to present at the Detroit Chemical, Electrical, and Metallic worldwide sourcing tables. If you don't think I was nervous, you'd be mistaken. Imagine being bombarded by questions from China, India, NA, South America, Mexico, Europe, to name just a few. Proud to say that I answered every question. I am offering up two manuals. The first is from the required Worldwide Purchasing class held in Detroit, MI. It was an intense one week class that taught an individual how to globally source both finished and unfinished goods. The second is my desktop sourcing manual from Electro-Motive Division (EMD). For those of you who are unfamiliar with this division, we manufactured locomotives. This book represented the guidelines for conducting ourselves as GM buyers. If you're currently undertaking a purchasing career, these would be great reference material. I will ship USPS Media Mail as they are very heavy.
