Yet, the employment of assault guns by the Germans and the later devastating effect of the 22nd Panzer Division made the use of armour an important part of this campaign. Crimea recreates von Manstein's successful campaign against the Soviets in late 1941 and early 1942. The battle was close one with the Germans meeting each crisis successfully. Lad the Germans failed, the Russian position would have improved greatly and the Axis units could have been destroyed. This game gives both sides a chance to win. soviet units lack steps in breakdown counters. their units were low quality in '41 - '42 so in the game they do not have the breakdown advantage given the Germans. We suggest to add excitement to this game that you refrain from looking in your opponents stacks unless those stacks attacked you on the previous partial turn.
