Description: This DVD has three Essanay films based on George Ade's Fables. In 1914 an arrangement was made with George Ade to use his Fables as films. George Ade actually directed the first few personally. His “fables” were the perfect length for turning into the short films Essanay made. In some cases like the Three Boiled Down Fables two or three fables would be combined into one film. Essanay produced ninety plus films based on George Ade’s fables. Of these only seven still exist. Three are in the Library of Congress, one at the British Film Institute, and three at the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum. The three from the Library of Congress have been scanned are presented here for your viewing. They are Three Boiled Down Fables (1914) ( The Fable of the Household Comedian, The Fable of Why Essie’s Tall Friend Got The Fresh Air, and The Fable of the Prevailing Craze) with Wallace Beery, Harry Dunkinson, Gerda Holmes, Leo White, and Charlotte Mineau; The Fable of the Honeymoon that Tried To Come Back(1914) With Harry Dunkinson and Gerda Holmes; and The Fable of All That Triangle Stuff As Sized Up By the Meal Ticket (1917) with Rod La Rocque, Marguerite Clayton and William Clifton If purchasing any other DVD's please wait for an invoice combining shipping.
