Description: Dr. LeGear Largest Horse Veterinarian Stock Remedies Advertising Medicinal Sign Sign measures 17 1/2" x 14 1/4". Paint is scraped to the tin in the upper right quadrant. Black background paint is crazing and faded throughout. There are dark age spots that may be cleaned, but I will not attempt as I'm not a conservator. There appears to be rust at the nail hole. The promotion reads: "Dr. LeGear" 21 Hands High The Giant Horse Weight 2995 lbs Owned by Dr. L. D. LeGear Medicine Co. St. Louis Manufactures of Dr. LeGear's Stock and Poultry Remedies Copyright 1911 by Dr. LeGear Medicine Company St. Louis, MO The above portrait is an exact likeness of "Dr. LeGear", the Largest Horse in all the World. He is a beautiful, dapple seal brown, Percheron Gelding, 21 hands high, takes a 33 inch collar, is perfectly proportioned, absolutely sound, is nine years old, (May 1st, 1911), 16 feet long from tip to tip, wears a No. 10 shoe and weighs 2995 lbs. He was foaled and raised on a farm in the United States and is valued at $25,000.00. He is pronounced by Veterinary Surgeons and Horse Experts everywhere to be the Greatest Horse that ever lived. On the back, there are tears along the middle third, top. The cardboard or stock is bowed out. It's very hard to see, but to the left of the tear, in red ink, is "The American Art Works" and additional, unreadable print below. What appears to have been a stand was pulled off, leaving pull marks. A note of warning, the corners are sharp.
