Cox & Luckman Birmingham England 3/4" wood dado molding plane w/ depth stop

Description: You are bidding on one Cox & Luckman 3/4" wood dado molding plane as pictured.It is marked "COX & LUCKMAN WARRANTED LONDON" inside the circular border on the front end, with "3/4" on the back end, and with owners "A J PHILPOTT" and H WOOLLEY" numerous times on top on each other on both ends. Overall length is about 9-3/8". It features the primary iron, the separate nicker iron and wedge, and the adjustable depth stop.Cox & Luckman made planes in Birmingham, England, from 1839 to 1876, and then became COX LUCKMAN & SON after that. Please see the book Goodman's British Planemakers 4th Edition for more information about them. It notes that although they made planes in Birmingham, they like others sometimes marked their planes "LONDON" as apparently that was better for marketing. Condition is good, wanting a cleaning, with wear to the wedges, and with a variety of scratches and dings in the wood. The depth stop moves up and down a bit stiffly, and the irons have some rust. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location.
