Description: This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing. This sample features an Arthur S. Burnell patent (sometimes ascribed to Brixner) dated June 19, 1877. This wire is called "Burnell's Four Point Hooked Point Barb on Two of Three Lines" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 1165-B). This wire features three round line wires twisted together. Barbs are four pointed made from two barbing wires. A point of each barbing wire is placed between two of the lines, and remainder wrapped around two of the lines. Third line is heavier gauge and is not barbed. Wire sample is 18" in length and shows light pitting. There are three barbs well spaced, and cut iss well centered.
