Description: Vintage Blanc De Chine white porcelain figure of Chinese Deity Guanyin table lamp. It has a 20 1/2" H. statue of pure white porcelain (blanc de chine) of Kwan Yin or Guanyin that has individually hand crafted lotus leaves, flowers and pods. This goddess of compassion is dressed in long flowing garments and holds symbolic flowers in her left hand. She is the Buddhist deity associated with mercy and compassion. This type of porcelain is produced at Dehua, Fujian Province. Exquisite and finely detailed throughout and more so than most seen. The statue table lamp look stunning against a contrasting background and this one is just the right size - not too tall and not too small. Blanc de Chine – the white glazed porcelain prized by collectors – literally translates from the French as “white from China,” as it was (and still is) manufactured at Dehua, in China’s Fujian province. The shade is a white linen soft back with a white linen lining. In very good condition except for missing thumb on left hand. See photos.
