Description: Very well made crochet topper that probably won’t keep you warm but is gorgeous and a great way to defeat the monotony of our daily uniforms. I wear black pants and dull sweaters every day it seems like. The same four or five. So when I step out, I like to throw on something light and lovely so people don’t look at my neck. This is that. Fabric tag has been cut but I’m pretty sure it’s a wool blend because it smells like wool when it was washed and Benetton didn’t do that much pure wool. A touch of silver tinsel like thread around the edges but no more in the sweater. Did you know Patrick Kelly designed for Benetton in the later 1980s? Not under his own name but yup. They apparently used a number of contract designers. Not that unusual: Gianni Versace and Claude Montana both designed for Complice, Romeo Gigli and Mr. Versace both designed for Callaghan as did Nicolas Ghesquirre, now at LVMH. Well, this isn’t Patrick Kelly, but it’s lovely. It behaves while you’re wearing it, stays where you put it. It is intact and without damage but does not feel new. It has fitted high armholes and overly long sleeves that bell out at the wrist. It is stretchy the way loose knit sweaters are. The collar is about 5” tall above the seam at the center back neck. 21” across the back at the underarms and on down the side seams. 25” long from the nape collar seam to the hem and that’s the longest part. 15” across the shoulders and sleeves are 29” long.
