Description: An unusual gilded bronze Ormolu match Vesta Case in the form of a Warwickshire Bear with his chain Fantastic quality bronze with very good details and facial features to the bear itself, the hairy bodybeing particularly well done. Early Victorian in date circa 1860 The head hinges to allow access to the matches, these have been struck on the body of the bearwhere there is a dull area in the gilding on his back. Many times over the years looking at the wear Sadly it’s missing a tree trunk that would have been attached where the hole is. Also he is missinga glass eye, although there is one in place but it’s not original. The eyes could easily be replaced if required. This could now be used as a pen or pencil holder as seen in the photo Very heavy for its size Measures 6cm wide x 7cm tall x 4cm wide A great addition to any collection or desk
