Description: Here is a gorgeous hand painted bowl by Pickard China, now of of Antioch, Illinois on Rosenthal plate. A gold trim around the rim, with dainty flower accents frames the berries. Pickard began the production of hand painted pieces in 1894 in Edgerton, Wisconsin. Imported European blanks, like this one, were used as a "canvas" for intricate, gilt embellished, decoration. The company moved to Chicago in 1897 and then to Antioch in 1937, where Pickard began production of their own dinnerware. The square gold and red Pickard mark on this bowl indicates that it was made between 1910 and 1912. This shallow bowl measures 8 1/2" diameter at the rim. It has no chips, nicks, cracks or heavy wear. The gold is deep and bright with evidence of handling over the years but no areas worn away.
