Antique French early 19th c Block Print Chintz Picotage RARE Purple 28.5 X 80"

Description: From the Paris markets! Wonderful RARE early 19th century purple chintz. Lovely block printed textile. Fabulous Indienne design so beautifully detailed in such rare lovely tones.The colors have held so beatify on this piece, a few areas where you can really see the original hand colored blue tones such as in first photo! A light latte / wheat color ground with softly faded purples and blue.Beautiful picotage or "pinning" detail creates subtle background texture and color. The chintz has worn off over the years. Now very soft thin but not brittle. May benefit from a stabilizer depending on project. Lovely piece for any collector. Appropriate for time worn aged projects, reproduction or archives. Condition: Timeworn but overall stable with many signs of age. A number of tiny holes through out that can be seen when held to the light, some small holes here and there as well see last photo. Light light background spots and a few darker larger as well. Carefully hand washed pressed and ready use.Please see photos and use zoom as part of item description. Overprinted selvedge edges mostly intact at 28.5" Approximate measurements - 28.5" X 80" I do my best to accurately describe condition and point out major flaws, but condition is seldom perfect as one would expect from a 100 year old textile.
