The breed became standardized in 1903.Breed a Rhode Island Red rooster to Light Sussex hens or vice versa, the offspring will be sex linked. The Light Sussex matures to a 4-5 pound (hen/cockerel) table bird in about 4-5 months.Light Sussex hens will lay, on average, 230-250 eggs/year.
