Description: (5) 2" Banded Onyx Stands This listing is for five carved Banded Onyx stands. These stands are carved from natural mined material known as Banded Onyx from Pakistan showing bands of colors including white, greens, reds and browns. These stands are great for displaying spheres, balls, eggs, globes, marbles, and more. As these stands are carved from natural material, no two are alike in colors and patterns. Some have heavy banding, some are mostly white or green Calcite. Pictures show a few different stands for example only. Spheres and egg pictured are for example only, no spheres or eggs are included with this listing. The stands average about 2" x .8" in size and weigh around 1/4 lb each. This size stand holds spheres ranging from 20mm-100mm nicely (the spheres pictured range in size from 50mm-70mm). As these are hand-carved, each stand may differ slightly, but all are polished and are very similar in size and shape. While generally referred to as Banded Onyx, this material is actually a type of Calcite. Calcite is composed of calcium carbonate. Banded Calcite is formed when calcium carbonate separates out from a solution of dissolved calcium carbonate and ground water.
