Description: Rare 1927 (the 2nd EVER MISS UNIVERSE) - FOUR (4) REAL PHOTOS of Contestants from the International Pageant of Pulchritude (the precursor to what we now call Miss Universe). It was held in Galveston, Texas, from 1926 to 1931. The winner was actually crowned MISS UNIVERSE. She is one of the photos. The other 3 photos are of Miss Germany, Miss Italy and Miss Luxembourg. The photos are about 3" x 5". The ladies are shown in their swimsuits (bathing suits) with their sashes shown. Due to the Great Depression, the pageant moved to Belgium and was only held in 1932 and 1935. It was restarted and the name changed to the Miss Universe Pageant in 1952. These 4 photos are still in Very Good condition after almost 100 years. I have not been able to positively identify the winner, as her sash only says MISS UNIVERSE 1927. I believe she may be Dorothy Britton, from New York, USA. Rare, extraordinary photo find from this early pageant. Same or next day shipping. drw8-pge102
