Description: Vintage Bauer Pottery Mixing Bowls Description and Item Information Up for sale are these two vintage Bauer pottery mixing bowls (as-is). Please excuse any glare in the photos. Included are a large green bowl and a small chartreuse bowl. This green bowl has a diameter of about 9 3/4 inches and it stands approximately 5 1/8 inches tall. The chartreuse bowl has a diameter of about 5 7/8 inches and it stands about 3 1/8 inches tall. Unpacked, the two bowls weigh 4 pounds 8.5 ounces together. These would be a good addition to a collection of vintage California pottery. Identification The green Bauer bowl is marked beneath, "BAUER 12 LOS ANGELES" and the chartreuse bowl is marked beneath, "BAUER 36 LOS ANGELES." These were made in Los Angeles, California. The bowls are vintage, but the exact ages are not known. Condition The bowls have no cracks, and they display fairly well overall, but they are not in perfect condition. They show evidence of wear and use. Both have scuffs and scratches from use, but this affects the green bowl more than the chartreuse one; the green bowl has lots of scratches, which are more noticeable on its exterior (please see example in Photo 3). There are some metallic scuff marks. The green bowl has some white marks which may be paint. The green bowl has fine, unstained crazing. The green bowl has several tiny, scattered nicks/fleabites to its rim and interior (please see examples shown in Photos 5 and 6); there are some shallow glaze chips and contact marks to the bottom and sides of its foot (please see examples shown in Photo 4). The chartreuse bowl has a few small rim chips, ranging from about 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch (please see examples shown in Photo 7 and the left hand side of Photo 8); its interior has a few tiny fleabite flakes. Its foot has some glaze wear and pitting (please see Photo 9), and its exterior has a couple of minor stains. As made, there are tripod stilt marks beneath with some grinding marks; also as made, there are some tiny glazed over clay specks, pinprick glaze indents, and variations in glaze application. The chartreuse bowl has a glaze skip to its rim (please see the right hand side of Photo 8), as made. Please review the description and photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to bidding or buying. Terms of Sale 1. Payments Taxes may be applicable.
