Description: This is an original early 19th century Regency period tea caddy. The handsome caddy is made in mixed hard and other wild woods. It has three compartments. The end compartments are for tea. They have lids with small knobs. The center compartment has a circular 4”space for glass bowl. It has a key lock mechanism but we do not have the key. On the exterior the decorative shield is missing around the key hole. Overall the tea caddy is in good condition for age and normal use. There is evidence the bun feet may not be original. One is smaller than the others. Also the lead liners that once were in the tea compartments have been removed. The more major condition issue to note is the glass container from the middle compartment is gone which is often the case because they get broken. The good news is that it presents beautifully. Hopefully with a search, a more appropriate glass container could be found. There is a one inch slant from top to bottom. This is a typical form for the Regency period. The caddy stands on four bun feet. Condition: good for age Measurements: 12 “inches long, plus 2 inches for Side handles. X so 14 inches total. It is 6 inches wide and 6 inches deep.
