Description: Large-format fold-out color lithographed 1944 map of Europe between the North Sea and Montenegro, printed more than 75 years ago. This sheet opens to a generous 27" x 41" and shows railroads, steamship routes, roads, cities, towns, and natural features in Germany, Poland, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, and northern Italy and Yugoslavia.It was published by the Geographia Map Company, 145 West 57th Street, New York, under the direction of Alexander Gross, F.R.G.S. and folds to 9" x 8¼".It is titled "War Map of Germany and the Invasion Fronts" and the back cover lists other Geographia maps covering areas of the world during the war.Condition: This map is printed on a lightweight paper that has toned and stiffened with age. There are tiny pinholes in the corners, where a previous owner had tacked it to the wall to follow the progress of the war, and there are a couple of small edge tears and archival tape reinforcements to weak spots along the edges. Overall in fine shape, with no marks or writing.
