Description: This World War II era Intaglio Hematite ring was originally purchased new by a US Army WWII veteran who returned from combat in Germany. He served as an Artilleryman and was the sole survivor of his gun team. The top of the ring is 10K gold attached to a sterling silver band (as inscribed on the band). Note that the gold on the left and right sides of the stone are uniquely shaped as a cluster of grapes and a grape leaf. Closer inspection shows that the leaves are actually green and the grape clusters have a slight purple undertone. Note that there is a seam at the thin point of the band from its original sizing. The line can be seen in the image that shows the sterling and 10K gold top markings. The ring is a men’s size 10, as depicted in the pictures. The ring’s original box from Fitch’s Jewelry Store in Warsaw, Indiana is included with the ring as shown in the pictures.
