A History of the Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus is a fictional account of the life of Christopher Columbus, and is considered one of the first examples of American historical fiction. The work was one of many attempts at nationalistic myth making by poets and authors of the time, and is an early example to perpetuate the flat earth story. CONDITION In full calf bindings. Externally very smart with slight rubbing to the extremities. Marks and the odd spot to the boards. Bookplates and withdrawn stamp to front pastedown of all volumes. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages.
