General Wayne had the men storm it with bayonets fixed on unloaded muskets to maintain surprise. By dawn on the 16th, it was taken. 15 Americans died with 80 wounded. The British had 63 killed, 70 wounded and 543 captured.   The Viscount de Fleury, a French Captain of Engineers, but fighting for and with the Americans, led the right attack column at Stony Point. He was the first to mount the walls and he personally struck down the British Flag. When, after the war he got back to France, he was personally presented with the medal by Benjamin Franklin.   During the Bicentennial celebrations the United States Mint restruck these medals in Pewter using the original dies. This is one of them. The original dies for this medal had disappeared and the dies were recreated at the US Mint in 1880. The original medal, in gold, was the first medal ever struck by resolution of Congress and was produced and struck in France. It was designed and signed by the Chief Engraver of the Paris mint, Benjamin Duvivier.   Weight: 21.19 Grams, 38 Millimeters, Pewter.
